This morning, I realized I had made a mistake. It was a mistake I could correct, but I had to do it immediately to not disrupt the flow of a process I had undertaken, so I took immediate action and got it all squared away. My old self would have admonished me for screwing up, for being so careless. Today, I am more mindful, more forgiving, more compassionate. I gave myself permission to make mistakes.
One of the first questions my coaching cohort was asked at the beginning of our training was, "Do you give yourself permission to make mistakes?" For me, this was an eye-opener. I realized in that moment that I give grace to others to make mistakes, but I am typically much harder on myself. It must be my Virgo nature.
So today, I give myself permission to:
make mistakes
forget things
revert to old habits
say the wrong thing
And then, I give myself permission to:
correct myself
forgive myself
have empathy and compassion for myself
love myself
Do you give yourself permission to make mistakes?
